NK cells are a type of immune cell that can kill cancer cells directly. The researchers modified the NK cells by adding a special receptor called a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that recognizes and binds to a protein called cMET, which is often found on the surface of cancer cells.<\/p><p>The researchers tested their anti-cMET CAR-NK-92 cells on cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) cells grown in the laboratory. They found that the modified NK cells were able to effectively kill the CCA cells, especially those with high levels of cMET.
