TTCI Representative Highlights CAR-T Cell Therapy Roadmap at the 74th JSTMCT Annual Meeting in Yokohama
YOKOHAMA, JAPAN — The 74th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Transfusion Medicine and Cell Therapy (JSTMCT) officially commenced at PACIFICO Yokohama North, running from May 14 to 16, 2026. This year’s prestigious medical assembly convened under the core theme: "Safe Transfusion Medicine and Cell Therapy, and Beyond."
A key highlight of the conference was Symposium 7 (Asian Symposium), held on May 15, which specifically focused on the "Introduction and Expansion of CAR-T Cell Therapy in Asian Countries." The session brought together leading hematology and cell therapy experts from across the region to discuss real-world clinical experiences, operational science, and regulatory frameworks.
Representing Thailand’s medical research sector, Prof. Dr. Nattiya Hirankarn from the Faculty of Medicine, Chulalongkorn University, delivered a featured presentation titled "Thailand’s Roadmap for CAR-T Expansion: Academic Innovation and Multicenter Clinical Implementation." The presentation outlined Thailand's strategic milestones in scaling up advanced immunotherapies, fostering academic innovation, and establishing collaborative multicenter frameworks to make cutting-edge cancer treatments more accessible.
The symposium also featured insights from other regional pioneers, including: South Korea: Dr. Dong Wook Jekarl (Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, The Catholic University of Korea) on the regional overview of CAR-T expansion. Taiwan: Dr. Ming YAO (Cell Therapy Center, National Taiwan University Hospital) sharing real-world clinical data on tisagenlecleucel (Kymriah). Japan: Dr. Yasuyuki Arai (Kyoto University Hospital) presenting on sustainable operational sciences for cytotherapy.
Through active participation in international forums like JSTMCT 2026, TTCI continues to support and promote vital technology transfers, academic exchanges, and medical innovations between Thailand, Japan, and the wider Asian medical community.
